First of all, I’d like to apologize for not updating this blog since my office moved. I hate to say this, but I was really busy. I’m resuming starting off with today’s issue.
I’ll be exhibiting a new stool at “Upcycle Exhibition - How the Advertisement Sheet was Brought Back - ” (
WEB note: in Japanese only) which will take place in YKK’s “Monozukurikan” in Akihabara from 14th to 30th of September.
Spiced up with some colorful snap fasteners, the stool reuses a portion of the giant advertisement sheet that used to cover the construction site of YKK’s new headquarter building that completed in June. It exemplifies the idea of “upcycle” ; creating something more valuable by borrowing the power of design rather than just mechanically recycling. I’m quite satisfied with this work for its somewhat artistic and a little bit apparel-like atmosphere.
At the exhibition, you’ll be able to see more products using the same adveritment sheet, designed by three other creators each with very refined sense. Interested? Take a peek!
